FOR THE COMMUNITY

By the Community

ACLT’s residents, homeowners and members are from Albany and guide policies and program priorities. Priorities include:

  • Focused redevelopment efforts in targeted neighborhoods to have greatest impact.

  • Collaborative approaches to community building activities, led by community members.

  • Professional property management services to offer high quality affordable rental housing.

  • Support ACLT tenant efforts to purchase the home they live in.

With the Community

ACLT is one of four lead agencies in Albany implementing an anti-gun violence program sponsored by the Division of Criminal Justice Services.

ACLT collaborates with programs such as Hoods House of Hoops, Frank Chapman Memorial Institute and Baby Institute to offer community building activities. Programs have included vacant lot clean ups, sponsorships of neighborhood block parties, support for back to school events and more. ACLT supports young people entering the workforce with stipends, drivers ed, work clothing and more. Trusted messenger mentoring has been a key component of the program. Victims of violence have been lifted up and recognized and supported with counseling services.

In Partnership

ACLT collaborates with congregations, social service agencies, local officials, small businesses and more. A key collaborating partner has been the Affordable Housing Partnership. AHP offers prepurchase and homeownership guidance to help more people build wealth.
